Recruiting the Clans

The Bargain The Encounter Tyrion and Bronn are surrounded by Stone Crows, Moon Brothers, and other clans. Tyrion negotiates, offering them steel and weapons in exchange for their service. The Promise Tyrion promises to give the clans the Vale of Arryn if they help him. The clans agree, seeing him as a means to gain wealth and power. The March Tyrion leads the clansmen down to the riverlands, where they join his father's army. The wildlings are fierce but undisciplined, and Tyrion struggles to control them.

Battle of the Green Fork

The Vanguard The Deployment Tywin places Tyrion and his clansmen in the vanguard, expecting them to be slaughtered. But the clans fight fiercely, and Tyrion survives. The Feigned Rout Tywin's plan is to lure Robb Stark into a trap, but Robb does not take the bait. The battle ends inconclusively, with heavy losses on both sides. The Aftermath Tyrion is wounded but gains his father's grudging respect. He learns that Jaime has been captured, and Tywin decides to send Tyrion to King's Landing as Hand.
